Supporting Decisions by Unleashing Multiple Mindsets Using Pairwise Comparisons Method

چکیده

Inconsistency in pairwise comparison judgements is often perceived as an unwanted phenomenon and researchers have proposed a number of techniques to either reduce it or correct it. We take viewpoint that this inconsistency unleashes different mindsets the decision maker(s) should be taken into account when generating recommendations support. With aim we consider spanning trees analysis which recently emerging idea for use with approach represents plurality (in terms vectors corresponding trees). Until now, multiplicity supplied by been amalgamated single preference vector, losing information about mindsets. To preserve information, propose novel methodology taking similar Stochastic Multi-criteria Acceptability Analysis. Considering all rankings alternatives mindsets, our gives probability alternative attains given ranking position well preferred another one. Since exponential makes their enumeration prohibitive, computing approximate probabilities using statistical sampling trees. Our also appealing because can applied incomplete sets comparisons. demonstrate its usefulness didactic example application real-life case selecting Telecom backbone infrastructure rural areas.

Active Ranking using Pairwise Comparisons

This paper examines the problem of ranking a collection of objects using pairwise comparisons (rankings of two objects). In general, the ranking of n objects can be identified by standard sorting methods using n log2 n pairwise comparisons. We are interested in natural situations in which relationships among the objects may allow for ranking using far fewer pairwise comparisons. Specifically, w...

Are inconsistent decisions better? An experiment with pairwise comparisons

This paper tries to contribute to the well-known and lengthy discussion on whether we should allow decision makers to be inconsistent, or, to put it in another way, if intransitive decisions better represent their preferences. We will focus specifically on the multiple-criteria decision making problem, since it is one of the most usual stances where this intransitivity appears. Result from an e...

Partial Ranking by Incomplete Pairwise Comparisons Using Preference Subsets

In multi-criteria decision making the decision maker need to assign weights to criteria for evaluation of alternatives, but decision makers usually find it difficult to assign precise weights to several criteria. On the other hand, decision makers may readily provide a number of preferences regarding the relative importance between two disjoint subsets of criteria. We extend a procedure by L. V...

Noise-Tolerant Interactive Learning Using Pairwise Comparisons

We study the problem of interactively learning a binary classifier using noisylabeling and pairwise comparison oracles, where the comparison oracle answerswhich one in the given two instances is more likely to be positive. Learning fromsuch oracles has multiple applications where obtaining direct labels is harder butpairwise comparisons are easier, and the algorithm can leverage...

Selection by pairwise comparisons with limited resources

We analyze different methods of sorting and selecting a set of objects by their intrinsic value, via pairwise comparisons whose outcome is uncertain. After discussing the limits of repeated Round Robins, two new methods are presented: The ran-fil requires no previous knowledge on the set under consideration, yet displaying good performances even in the least favorable case. Themin-entmethod set...
